This article presents a comparative analysis of four reading book objects: the first one is a black and white print version, the second one a color print version, the third one is digital with images version, and the four one includes color and sound; each one including three short stories based on real stories about delinquency and criminals. From these objects, a study on a university population of 60 individuals regardless of age or sex was applied based on questionnaires for determining the apprehension level of the supplied information in the book objects after their reading. Additionally, a survey was applied on a university population of 237 students randomly selected, and an exploratory analysis of the book objects in libraries and bookstores allowed to establish the reading preferences and reading frequency of the book objects. The obtained results from the surveys and questionnaires were triangulated. The book objects of simple text printed in white and black shown the best apprehension level with regard to the others, although color and digital books are more attractive, and their effect on the senses is greater.
