Comparing sequential le analysis and full NL analysis in 3D structural concrete design


Abstract:

The paper describes an alternative way to check a structural concrete design assuming an acceptable knowledge of concrete mechanics of the design engineer, based on the CEB-FIP Model Code 1990. This method reduces the elapse time of a full nonlinear 3D structural concrete design analysis. It is based on a robust linear static analysis procedure. Importing the full 3D geometry from predesign tools in the future means that for design control the engineer will require a 3D calculation and checking tool with realistic elapse time options. © 2004 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
