Abstract:

OBJECTIVES This course will complete the study of classical Parametric Inference, which was introduced in Mathematical Statistics (3192). The first chapter is devoted to investigate the methods of finding and evaluating Confidence Intervals, where it will be emphasized the utility of supporting a puntual estimation of an unknown parameter with some error measure. Next, the course will be dedicated to Hypothesis Testing, another main inference method. Thus, the second chapter will cover the study of evaluating tests, using essentially the power function as comparative criterion., while the third chapter will be devoted to develop different techniques of finding tests procedures, as well as to the study of the relationship between confidence estimation and hypothesis testing.
