Components of the yield and chemical composition of Cynodon nlemfuensis
Abstract:
In the tropics, the planting of improved species for the production of green fodder has attained great importance due to its potential. The present investigation was carried out in the months of July-September 2015, on a farm, located at Km one of the El Empalme-Balzar road, province of Guayas, Ecuador. With the objective of evaluating the effect of regrowth age on the components of the yield and chemical composition of Cynodon nlemfuensis. A randomized block experimental design with three treatments (21, 42 and 63 days) and four repetitions was used. To do this, parcels of six square meters (3x2) were used, with a sowing frame of 0.50 x 0.20 m, the response variables were the GMY, DMY, fiber-nitrogen ratio and leaf-stem; as well as DM, CP, CF, EE, ash and NFE. The best results were obtained at 63 d in how many indicators of productivity were 1.88; 0.75 t of green and dry matter, respectively; while the nutrient content decreased with the increase of the study period, with the increase in the CF / N ratio (12.54) and decrease in the L / S (0.35). It was concluded that age exerts a marked effect on the performance and chemical composition, with increases of the first and decrease of the second as it advances.
