Computational 3D modelling of a concrete road surface with a load applied on the edge


Abstract:

The article presents the results of the 3Dmodeling process applied to a concrete pavement, simulating a load applied in the edge of the slab, by means of the Program ABAQUS/CAE. It is explained how to build the model; the mathematical calibration, considering like reference for the validation the Westergaard'sequation; and a study of influence of two of the main factors is shown that intervene in the design process: The subgradereactionmodule and the pressure of contact tire-pavement.
