Computational model to obtain SAR produced by EMF from telecommunications services over adult human bodies

Abstract:

A computer model was developed using a GUI of MATLAB that allows calculating the SAR under conditions of spatial exposure to non-ionizing radiation. It has been based on the CAD models of the Virtual Family V3.0: Duke and Elle. Some measurements of the maximum and average intensity of the electric field were taken from the telecommunications services such as radio, television, and mobile phones in ten different scenarios that are close to antennas in different places of Riobamba. This was done using the models Duke and Elle in 18 points in the human body considering the spatial exposure of the electric field to do the simulation of the SAR with values of maximum and average electric fields in a generic scenario for each model from 76 MHz to 2.686 GHz frequency band. When the comparison of the measured values in the 10 different scenarios are doing to the ones established with the ICNIRP, it could be determined that the radiations are under the maximum allowed by the ICNIRP in these scenarios. When the results of the simulations are comparing to the ones calculated by the computer model, a minimum margin of error of the SAR value was determined. This demonstrated that the model is satisfactory for the maximum intensity as well as the average intensity of the electric field. This computer model will be useful for assessing the levels of EMF radiation and/or epidemiologic studies.
