Computerized tomographic analysis of orbital hypertelorism repair: Spatial relationship of the globe and the bony orbit
Abstract:
An analysis of the relationship between soft-tissue and skeletal transposition in orbital hyperelorism correction is presented, using newer methods of CT-scan reconstruction. The major determinant of the final position of the globe is the movement of the lateral orbital wall. Medial bony resection provides space for translocation of the soft-tissue contents of the orbit. Esotropia may result from functional shortening of the medial rectus muscle when the medial osteotomy is positioned relatively anterior.
