Conceptions of the students around object-oriented design: A case study


Abstract:

Software design has had several perspectives in terms of approaches, one of them is the object-oriented approach, that is currently used in both industry and academia. However, until now this approach shows difficulties at the moment of implement an efficient software development. This study was conducted in the world of academia in order to clarify the foundations of software design, which the students have, through of a qualitative case study in the Software Engineering subject. As a result, we have found some misunderstandings related with concepts like inheritance, object, software design and the overvaluation of the coding respect to designing.
