Concerning nuclei, distances, and similitudes among intervals

Abstract:

A high number of applications exists where the information to code comes expressed as an interval of values. For example, when we are tried to process the data for prediction at a certain time, like in the study of the transitory on the control system, or in the analysis of the financial evolution of a company. In this paper, it is presented a definition of a measure among intervals from a euclidea distance. This distance will have in consideration like essential characteristics the size and the relative position among the real intervals. The relationship between distance and kernels in a Hubert space, it becomes possible to define a kernel of type interval on the space of the real intervals open of finite dimension, a space that doesn't possess any type of algebraic structure. The analysis on several practical examples puts to manifest the benefits of the instruments here presented. © AEPIA.
