Confirmatory factor analysis of a scale of job satisfaction and organizational commitment among hotel service employees in Ecuador

Abstract:

This study has the objective of validating a scale to assess the satisfaction and the organizational labor commitment among the employees of the hotel service of Ecuador. To do this, the Confirming Factorial Analysis with Software AMOS IBM is used. The study was conducted with a sample of 914 employees of the hotel sector of the three main cities of Ecuador: Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. The adjustment indices (χ2, GFI, CFI, AGFI, IFI, TLI, NFI χ2/DF and AIC) enable the problems of the satisfaction and the organizational commitment problems to be approached through six dimensions. These dimensions are: satisfaction with the activities, satisfaction with the allowances, satisfaction with professional development, labor implication, labor pride and labor disappointment. The results verify that the instrument is valid and reliable with this dimensionality. The study discusses the possibility of grouping the three first dimensions as if they were endogenous variables in the variable of satisfaction, with the remaining four being grouped as endogenous variables in the variable of organizational commitment.
