Conformal Patch Antennas for an UAV employed in Agricultural Applications


Abstract:

In this paper, simulation and measurement results of two conformal antennas are presented. The antennas will be mounted under the front of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The substrate was built using a 3-D printer and the material PLA (ϵr= 2.7). These antennas will operate at the 5.8 GHz frequency band. Simulation and measurement results present good agreement between them. The first antenna presents a return loss greater than 10 dB between 5.5 and 7 GHz (BW=24 %) and the second between 5.6 and 6 GHz (BW=6.9 %). Both radiation patterns present a directional behavior with gain around 6 dB.
