Congenital glaucoma: Clinical case report
Abstract:
Concept Congenital glaucoma is a not very common pathology, whose origin is difficult to verify, generally this type of cases appears at birth caused by production of aqueous humor in the months of the newborn’s life; This pathology is a group of diseases characterized by the existence of anomalies that cause an increase in the internal pressure of the eye, damaging the optic nerve, the organ in charge of transmitting visual information to the brain. Objective to describe the study of a clinical case of congenital glaucoma of a newborn who was found hospitalized in the neonatology area at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in the city of Cuenca, Azuay province. neonatology area after presenting photophobia and blapharospasm, doctor diagnoses congenital glaucoma Conclusions Congenital glaucoma without a timely diagnosis can lead to a great visual loss and morphological changes in the eye.
