Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas del personal médico y de enfermería de la sala de partos del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, en la aplicación de las normas de Bioseguridad en la atención del recién nacido, Cuenca 2015


Abstract:

Background. The implementation of biosafety standards is a responsibility of the institution where all staff are included; doctors, nurses (I), auxiliary staff, patients and visitors. Service delivery in harmful or potentially dangerous items, such as biological products from patients and chemical reagents are also different in nature. We must recognize these dangers to establish and implement prevention and safety measures in order to prevent accidents and minimize contamination. (1) Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of medical and nursing staff in the hospital delivery room José Carrasco Arteaga, in the implementation of biosafety standards in newborn care, Cuenca 2015. Material and Methods: A quantitative study was conducted - descriptive sample consisted of 50 professionals including doctors, licensed nurses, medical interns, interns nurses and nursing assistants in the delivery room of the Hospital José Carrasco found Arteaga. The research techniques used were the survey, observation and literature review, the instruments used were registration form, and the survey. The results were analyzed in simple contingency tables using Word programs. Excel and SPSS version 21. Results: Through this research the following results were obtained for 98% of staff define correctly what is biosecurity, 98% of staff properly discard the sharps material, 86% of the staff always wash your hands before and after caring for Mother. Conclusions: At the end of the study can say that 98% of professionals knows what is biosecurity but 80% of professionals does not apply these standards in service. To improve this is due to present the results of this study to biosafety committee to find solutions these problems and thus provide better care to the newborn.
