Conocimientos, creencias, actitudes y prácticas sexuales vinculadas con el VIH/SIDA, en Sevilla don Bosco. Morona Santiago 2017


Abstract:

Background: This investigation is born from the XV announcement from the Universidad de Cuenca’s Department of Investigation (DICU for their Spanish initials), from the project called Knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and sexual practices linked with HIV/AIDS at Sevilla Don Bosco Parish; Morona Santiago 2017. AIDS is considered as a public health problem worldwide. This disease has had important consequences to teenagers, (1) with a major prevalence at limited places to preventive services. (2) In Ecuador, it estimates a strong tendency of new cases of HIV, registering 3966 cases in 2010, a rate of incidence of 27.7 (3) in relation with Western Ecuadorian ethnic groups, the increase in the prevalence of women and men with HIV/AIDS could be related due to the cultural sexual behavior, the lack of information and a limited knowledge of the contagion’s severity, the mortality raise and AIDS’s cost. Objective: To analyze the knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and sexual practices linked with HIV/AIDS in Sevilla Don Bosco. Methodology: Qualitative post-positivist qualitative study whose population study are members from Shuar ethnicity (tambien puedes poner community). The sample will be for convenience: 7 teens (men and women) between 12 and 17 years with active sexual life who come to Sevilla Don Bosco Health Center Parish. It will realize a focus group with previous consent of their teen’s parents involved. The information will be recorded, rewritten in Word document, and then, processed with Atlas-Ti software according to the proposed categories: beliefs, practices and attitudes. Results: The results obtained showed that of the total of participants, with respect to their knowledge, attitudes and sexual practices, they agree that they may be vulnerable to contagion, their first sexual relationship was at an early age, this was given out of love, they claim to keep only one partner and They reflect on the importance of condom use
