Consistent derivation of the Timoshenko's beam theory

Abstract:

The Timoshenko beam theory was derived based on Reissner's principle of the three-dimensional elasticity theory. This derivation yields the motion equations as well as the constitutive relationships in a unified form, thus avoiding the external introduction of the correction factor.
