Construcción de la imagen de liderazgo de la mujer política ecuatoriana. Caso de estudio: Silvia Buendía

Abstract:

Female participation in politics has visibly increase in recent times. In Ecuador during the Government of the Revolución Ciudadana, 40% of women were working in legislative positions. For this reason is pertinent through an investigative process to explore the structure of this leadership in a case study in which the lawyer and activist for human rights Silvia Buendía was selected. In relation to this, a qualitative investigation of a descriptive type has been established, which it will allow to reveal the image of leadership of Buendía, results that were obtained through the own testimony of this character, an interview to a member of her environment and interactive observation. In the same way those results were analyzed under five categories based on the conceptual frame which it leads to recognize some findings. In conclusion, three key pieces could be identified in the formation of their image: the influence of their family, their self-confidence and their attributes as a leader. Analyzing the case of Silvia Buendía can provide some features that could be useful for those seeking to exercise a leadership position.
