Consumo audiovisual en Guayaquil antes y durante el confinamiento por la Covid-19: estudio de públicos de series de 15 a 29 años: motivaciones


Abstract:

Today, modern society is going through a transformation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes the way they consume audiovisual content. This study with a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative, aimed to dig into the consumption of series of the Guayaquil audience with age between 15 and 29, based on their lifestyles, gender, age and level of education, before and during lockdown by COVID-19. The main motivations of the public when selecting a series were discovered through 15 semi-structured interviews and 397 surveys carried out in the period of August and September 2020. It was found that during lockdown their motivations for watching series were for doing something fun, entertaining and above all, it was a way to bond with their closest relatives and friends. In addition, due to the increase of spare time, the participants decided to explore new genres different from what they were used to watch.
