Content analysis of sensationalism and its incidence on the reactions from the audience: a look from at latin american youtubers
Abstract:
This research analyzes the correspondence between the sensationalist content of the youtubers’ videos and the reaction of the audience expressed in the level of visualization and comments on the content. Based on a quantitative approach, the content analysis technique is used to identify the level of sensationalism in a sample of 20 audiovisuals, responses from 4 youtubers, selected for their popularity and the variety of content. The results show that, a greater sensationalism, greater visualization of video, however, generates less positive reactions from the audience, and what is the condition of the audience. The ethical implications related to the exploitation of sensationalism as the resource, the negative relation with the community of followers, and the incidences in the content regulation are analyzed.
