Content of the primary metabolites of Gliricidia sepium in the zone of Cauto valley, Cuba

Abstract:

Mathematical models and in particular those applied to biology, can be an important tool to understand the dynamics of a phenomenon. In the science of pastures they play an important role in the study of this, which is reflected in the growing number of publications on the subject. In order to establish the relationship of the age of regrowth on content of primary metabolites (nitrogen, glucose, fructose and sucrose) of the forage of Gliricidia sepium. An experiment was developed, following a random block design, with five treatments (60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 d) and four repetitions, the samples were taken in 10 plants in a row eliminating the edge effect in an area of 0.5 ha-1. The content of N, Glu, Frut and Suc in the integral plant, leaves and stems were evaluated, for which a regression analysis with statistical systems SPSS version 22 was used. In the supporting tissue and in the foliage the precursor substances decrease, while in the other fraction they showed a slight increase. Quadratic and cubic equations were adjusted with R2 higher than 0.98. It was concluded that expressions explain the close correspondence between growth and the contents of initial compounds present in the forage species, affected by the photosynthetic activity of the plant.
