Contribution of social networks to new venture development

Abstract:

Social networks have favored the popularization of countless productive and commercial ventures. In the past, small businesses went unnoticed by consumers due to their limited reach and advertising impact because they could not easily access mass media advertising due to its high costs. Since their appearance, social networks have eliminated communication barriers and with this, small and micro businesses have been the most benefited within the business segment, due to their advertising accessibility and reach to audiences adapted to current media and technological applications. This research analyzes the incidence of social networks in the development of entrepreneurship, according to the results of several investigations. The study is a field study, with an exploratory-descriptive scope. It used a simple random sample of 304 people; a survey was used to collect data and the results were analyzed by means of measures of central tendency. The most outstanding results show that social networks have been effective in the popularization of products and services for personal use and consumption. The immediacy of recommendations or referrals from friends and family about establishments and/or products is also noteworthy.
