Contribution of the Artisanal System in the local tourist development: Case Otavalo

Abstract:

Cultural tourism has become the means to enhance the identity and art of the people through their craft, incorporating as an economic activity of the destinations. Thus, this article is structured in three parts. In the first conception of cultural tourism from the academy, support for the safeguarding of the heritage and the function of the artisan system, the second one contextualizes the functionality of the craft, and the third analyzes the institutionalization of cultural tourism in political agendas. Ecuador. Methodologically it is characterized by qualitative bibliographical research, data were obtained from scientific articles, books and documents.
