Contributions to the systematic study of species of psidium (Myrtaceae) from Venezuela


Abstract:

The objective of this research was contribute to the systematic study of Psidium species distributed in Venezuela, with emphasis on distributed in western, such as Psidium guajava, P. guineense, P. salutare and P. sartorianum. The study also included the following related species: P. acutangulum, P. maribense and Calycolpus moritzianus. The taxonomic descriptions were based upon morphological, anatomical and phytochemical characters, complemented with geographical distribution, habitat and uses data. In addition, include illustrations and a taxonomic key. The information generated from this research is a contribution to the comprehensive study of the genus Psidium in Venezuela, considering the current and potential importance that these species have.
