Control performances under logic changes in the operational conditions
Abstract:
In digitally controlled systems, the control algorithm is sharing the computation resources with many other real-time activities, trying to optimize their utilization. This strategy constrains the time availability to compute the control action. On the other hand, the performances of a digitally controlled system degrade if the sampling period is increased. Thus, a fast updating of the controller-sampling period is decided if permitted by the availability of resources. This may happen due to supervisory control, mode control, sampling strategy changes, and many other reasons. An approach to update the controller under changes in the sampling period, keeping the controlled plant performances, is presented in this paper. Some results illustrate the advantages of the proposed approaches.
