Cooperative principles: analysis from the image and benefits of a cooperative in Ecuador


Abstract:

Savings and cbkp_redit cooperatives are institutions that are characterized by recognizing and applying the cooperative principles of the International Cooperative Alliance, demonstrating ethical, democratic, participatory and fair behavior. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of cooperative principles on the institutional image and on the perception of benefits by the members of a cooperative. For this, 456 personal surveys were carried out to the members of a cooperative in Ecuador. For data analysis, the multivariate statistical technique of structural equations was used, this methodology allows observing different causal relationships between constructs for a reflective modell. The results showed that the perception of the cooperative members is influenced by the principle of economic participation; education, training and information and cooperation between cooperatives. It is concluded that the application of some cooperative principles promotes a better image, increases loyalty and strengthens the bonds of the partner with the institution.
