Corrigendum to “Electrical energy storage using a supercritical CO2 heat pump” [Energy Rep. 8 (Suppl. 3) (2022) 502–507] (Energy Reports (2022) 8(S3) (502–507), (S2352484722000737), (10.1016/j.egyr.2022.01.073))
Abstract:
The authors regret < The net work generated by this novel proposal is 13.92 MW in the load and 10 MW in the discharge, reaching an efficiency of 59.63%. In addition, a techno-economic optimization is carried out to quantify the discounted cost per unit of energy discharged from this storage technology with a value of 0.137 €/kWh. The main results of the cycle parameters and equipment sizing are presented in Tables 2 and 3, while the cost breakdown is shown in Table 4. The optimal plan presents an LCOS of 0,137 €/kWh. It is highly interesting to compare the designed PTES and other similar systems [2] and [8] with other energy storage solutions, whose LCOS are shown in Fig. 4. However, if we take into account that the efficiencies of the turbomachinery for powers of 10 MW are 0.80 and 0.85 (compressor and turbine, respectively), the efficiency value is 50.16% and the LCOS is 0,154 €/kWh However, not only the technology by itself is favorable, but the 59.63% of efficiency and 0,137 €/kWh results make this technology a strong candidate to be the energy solution of the future.>.
