Costumbres alimenticias que influyen en las complicaciones de pacientes diabéticos e hipertensos que acuden al Centro de Salud de Tarqui, Cuenca, 2016


Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus are diseases considered of the main causes of morbi - mortality worldwide- by the World Health Organization. For this reason, the specialists have been researching methods that help and contribute to get effective treatment for these diseases with adequate drugs treatment, healthy food, exercises and good eating habits. OBJECTIVE: To determine the eating habits that influence the complications in diabetic and hypertensive patients who attend to “Centro de Salud de Tarqui del Canton Cuenca”. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research used was quantitative and its method was descriptive, which helped to evaluate: the type of feed, nutrition consumed, how feed is prepared, and the frequency of alcohol consumption. This survey had 36 questions who was applied to 92 Hypertensive and Diabetics people that attend to “Centro de Salud de Tarqui”. They were selected throughout an inclusion and exclusion criteria. The techniques and research instruments used in this investigation were through the data collection with the application of the alpha reliability index of Cron Bach of 0, 77. The tabulation and data analysis were performed through the computer programs: Excel and SPSS version 2015. RESULTS: Among the 92 evaluated patients, 60% were females, 39% had incomplete primary education and 52 % are low-income. 84% prepare food properly, in terms of the range 63% always consume foods rich in carbohydrates, 65% never takes into account the quantity and quality. CONCLUSION: The eating habits of surveyed patients are not appropriate in its entirety, because of they continue eating foods that complicate health, 65% never choose restaurant taking into account whether the food there retailed fattening or not, 57% never realize at the end of day when you he ate too much
