Cranioplasty techniques, after decompressive craniectomy. Review of three cases


Abstract:

Three clinical cases are presented in different settings after spontaneous intraparenchymal hemorrhage in the first case and severe head trauma in the second and third cases in which decompressive craniectomy was performed and in which cranialreconstructionwas subsequentlyperformedus-ingtitanium mesh, cement based on methacrylate; and in the last case PEEK mesh made on a 3D printer. We review the indications and benefits of cranioplasty, as well as its compli-cations, in addition we willreview thedifferenttechniques that have been carried out over time and the different materials used, making a comparative review regardingbiocompatibil-ity and complication rate.
