Creating a serious educational game through a user-centered design approach

Abstract:

Serious games (SG) are used in various areas, such as education, health, advertising and communications. Within the subset of serious games that are used in the field of education, a parametrizable serious game is proposed that allows to reinforce the knowledge acquired in a classroom. To ensure that a SG meets the expectations of a user, it must be designed using an appropriate methodology, which is focused on the user and includes experts in pedagogy and game design. The objective of this research work is to present the development of a serious educational game that can be parameterized as a case study of iPlus, a methodology for the design of SG, which is based on the previous idea. iPlus allows the conception of educational SG, based on a participatory and user-centered approach.
