Detection of cavitation in centrifugal pump for vibration analysis

Abstract:

In the cavitation detection project in a centrifugal pump whose purpose was to detect the presence of the phenomenon through the analysis of vibration signals received by acceleration sensors and governed by the ISO 10816 standard of vibration severity, the signals were analyzed under the normal operation and cavitation regime. Determining the alabe pitch frequency (BPF) verifies an alteration in the vibration range since the cavities near the leading edge of the alabe appear periodically oscillating and their overall value or RMS when making a comparison under the two regimes is altered noticeably.
