Development of a low cost unmanned surface vehicle for coastal patrol

Abstract:

This paper describes the development of an USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) prototype that serves as a sensor test platform to investigate the feasibility of use an USV for control illegal activities in coastal zones. The USV length is 2 m and range of 25000 m. The main purpose of the USV is for surveillance and reconnaissance. The CPU is an FPGA development kit ALTERA DEO nano. The USV can be operated in remote mode or fully autonomous. Results of some systems of the USV from laboratory and sea trials are shown.
