Análisis comparativo de los factores que inciden en la salud de los adultos mayores del Hogar la Esperanza №1 Quito y Hogar la Esperanza №2 Guayaquil.

Abstract:

The health of the elderly is an issue of national interest, since at this age people are more likely to suffer from chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary diseases and cancer. In addition, the person is more likely to have depressive symptoms, problems with cognitive functioning and functionality. The general objective was to carry out a comparative analysis of the factors that affect the health of older adults in the Hogar La Esperanza N1 Quito and Hogar La Esperanza N2 Guayaquil. A quantitative, descriptive and correlational investigation was carried out on 96 elderly adults from Hogar Esperanza Quito and 90 from Guayaquil; was used the SABE I survey elaborated by the INEC. The research was conducted to 96 elderly adults of Hogar Esperanza Quito and 90 of Guayaquil. It was identified that diabetes mellitus and cancer are more prevalent in the elderly in Quito, hypertension presented similar values, being the condition with greater problems of the elderly, the elderly in Quito have major coronary diseases. Older adults in Guayaquil and Quito suffer from dementia in similar percentages, which is greater than 50%. In Quito there are more depressive symptoms than in Guayaquil, in addition they have greater problems of functionality. The older adults of Quitohad a greater consumption of alcohol and of tobacco, in addition they realized greater physical activity than those of Guayaquil. It was identified that smoking was the main factor affecting the cognitive system of the elderly. Some actions were proposed to improve the quality of life of the people in these centers based on the results of the research.
