Influence of Fact-Based Films about People with Disabilities' Achievements on the Development of Inclusion Value: A Thesis Plan


Abstract:

Beliefs or preconceptions that pigeonhole people with disabilities as outside the norm are an attitudinal barrier that values education must break down. Learn values or any topic from the media, especially through movies has been studied since the decade of the seventies. Movies are not only for entertainment or leisure but also to educate, provoke emotions and awaken empathy. This thesis plan pretends to determine the influence of fact-based films about people with disabilities' achievements on the development of inclusion value in university students. For this, a selection of fact-based films will be analyzed through content analysis and from a critical approach. Besides, an educational project will be designed and evaluated where fact-based films will be used as a pedagogic resource. After that, quasi-experimental research will be used to measure the impact of fact-based films on university students to promote the inclusion value. This thesis plan is an initial stage. It was approved by a doctoral committee and also by peer-reviewed researchers in a project submitted at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador.
