Abstract:

There are some laboratory tests in nephrology that can lead to confusion and difficult interpretation. Doctors and laboratory technicians should learn about the pre-analytical and technical requisites for each sample and the validity of the tests. The experience (more than 25 years) of the author about this topic is analyzed as well as his ideas regarding sedimentation ra te, diabetes and kidneys, calcium lithiasis, hypercalciuria, urinary crystals, uric acid, urinary infections, hypercholesterolemia, coagulation, creatinine and glomerular filtration rate, urea and creatinina in patients undergoing dialysis, plasmatic album in, microalbuminuria, anemia, chronic renal disease, phosphocalcic metabolism and natriuretic peptides.
