MyMOOCSpace: Mobile game tool to foster collaborative learning and motivate assessments preparation in face-To-face engineering courses


Abstract:

The evaluations in traditional university courses are still an accepted tool to validate the knowledge acquired in the different subjects. MyMOOCSpace is a cloud-based tool that encourages the interaction of students participating in a course. However, a variation of this tool supports collaborative learning and motivation for exam preparation in a traditional, classroom-based higher education classroom. This article presents a study on this context, which evaluated the impact on the results of the evaluations, using the tool as the basis for the study and preparation. The case study involved 40 students of computer engineering from a Chilean university and its results show that MyMOOCSpace generates a positive increase in student interaction with respect to the subjects covered in the course, and that it increased motivation and assistance in the study and preparation for the final exam of the course.
