Plagiarism a scourge in the ecuadorian academic environment

Abstract:

Academic plagiarism is a dishonest fact that manifests itself with some regularity between the students and teachers of Ecuadorian academic institutions; In order to convene the reflective exercise on the need to develop competencies to avoid this scourge, a descriptive study of the bibliographic review type was developed with a quantitative approach, systematized through the scientific methods of hermeneutic research, bibliographic review, content analysis and synthesis. The findings made reveal that academic plagiarism is a bad present in scientific articles, essays, books, theses, projects and in answers to evaluation questionnaires. For its detection and prevention, there are various technological resources, but more than that, it requires teaching-learning strategies for education in values and the development of competences that allow carrying out didactic tasks and academic work without resorting to fraud. A necessary aspect to reduce plagiarism is the review, control and evaluation of the tasks assigned to the student, for which the teacher can implement creative forms such as workshops and review teams made up of students.
