Resilience and family dysfunctionality

Abstract:

Resilience is one of the recent issues that has gained space for analysis in the interest of educational processes. The paper presents the results of a qualitative investigation that allowed us to study the situation presented by resilience in a group of students who have low academic performance and the influence that dysfunctional families have on it at the Baccalaureate levels of the José Aquiles Valencia Education Unit, 21st century, during the school year April 2018-February 2019. For this purpose, a cross-sectional study was applied through field research, offering the results through tabular and graphic data, which illustrate the problem related to student resilience, dimensions of resilience, the degree of family functionality and the socio-economic characteristics of the families where the surveyed students live together and the dimensions of family functionality. All of this allowed us to analyze the relationships between student resilience, the role of the family and the strategy that teachers must play to reverse the academic situation presented by students.
