The use of the DIACRONO as an aid in ambulatory decision making of diabetic patients
Abstract:
Several advising procedures to aid the ambulatory decision making of diabetic patients are presented. They have been accomplished using the DIACRONO system, a portable microcomputer architecture to support follow-up and ambulatory advising for the care of diabetic patients, whose patient unit has been designed to contain 'customized software' tailored to specific applications. Several approaches are considered, including algorithmic rules, the incorporation of a simplified rule knowledge-based system, a 'short-time-memory' metabolic simulation of plasma blood glucose/insulin profiles, and a telemedicine system to allow 'on-line' advising.
