Use of augmented reality apps in University classrooms

Abstract:

This study is part of the Spanish research project (I+d+I): "Augmented reality to increase training, design, production and evaluation of augmented reality programs for university education" (EdU-5746-P-Proyecto RAfodIUn). The study analyzes the experiences of university innovation with immersive technologies (Augmented Reality, AR) of various university degrees’ subjects related to "Information Technology and Communication" at the Pablo de olavide University in Seville (Spain) corresponding to two academic courses (2016-17 and 2017-18). Through a qualitative methodology with the implementation of an open questionnaire, the evaluations of 231 students were analyzed in relation to the Augmented Reality apps used in the subject: "ICT and Social Education". The results show that in the two academic years, the Augmented Reality apps in the educational field: "Quiver" and "Zookazam" are the most valued for their usability, easy handling and applicability in training contexts, helping to acquire new knowledge in previous educational stages.
