Wax-ester composition of ten jojoba clones growing in two arid ecosystems of South America
Abstract:
Ten clones of Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) were harvested from sites in the Arid Chaco of Argentina and the Atacama Desert in Perú in 1995. The main wax ester was C:42, followed by C:40, C:44, C:38, C:46 and C:36. There were significant differences (P < 0.05) among clones of the same place, and between clones of the two sites. The clones growing in the Atacama Desert produced higher yields of long chain (above 40) esters than those in the Arid Chaco.
