Abstract:
Red states and blue states are clearly delineated on the election maps of 2004. Like many Americans, I was not particularly surprised by the outcome of the 2004 United States presidential election, despite the fact that I live in “blue” New England. Though many of my colleagues and friends have not lived in the “red” states, I have, and suspected that the issues important to many Americans had yet to surface in the public dialogue. I must confess, however, I did not put the finger on “moral issues” as the exit pollsters and others, even outside the United States, did with the benefit of hindsight.
