CLOSURE OF RURAL SCHOOLS, FAILURE OR ACHIEVEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL POLICIES IN ECUADOR?
Abstract:
One of the most pressing problems facing education in Ecuador is the implementation of education policy in the rural sector, among its measures is the closure of low enrollment schools, in this sense there is disagreement on the part of some sectors of the population, which motivated a qualitative study with the objective of analyzing the consequences of the implementation of this policy in the province of El Oro, through the criteria of students, teachers, social actors, education officials and parents; the methodological strategy was systematized through the methods: Documentary analysis, scientific observation, phenomenological and triangulation of data, which allowed concluding that there are shortcomings in the implementation of the closure of schools, inadequacies in strategic design, distancing between the official discourse and the praxis, which cause: Stress in parents and students, economic difficulties in the homes, dissatisfaction of the teachers, general malaise in the population.
