Developing a virtual reality serious game to recreational therapy using iPlus Methodology

Abstract:

Serious Games (SGs) are used in various areas, such as training, advertising, health fields and communications. Within the subset of serious games that appeal to health care systems, we propose a game that focuses on mental health treatment. In order to ensure that an SG meets a user's expectations, it must be designed using the appropriate methodology for the context, which is user-centered and includes experts in disability, pedagogy and game design. The objective of this research work is to present the construction of a virtual reality serious game for Recreational therapy as a study case of iPlus, a methodology for the design of SGs, which is based on the previous idea. iPlus allows the conception of educational SGs, based on a participative, user-centered approach.
