Museums in teaching history


Abstract:

This descriptive work of a bibliographic review type has the objective of analyzing the contribution of museum institutions to the teaching and learning of History; it was systematized by means of the historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and hermeneutical methods. Museums have their origin in Ancient Greece; They are institutions for the promotion of knowledge, conservation, research and the generator of spaces for enjoyment and interaction with the public; Its services have evolved, turning them into educational environments, which have among their functions: Collecting, restoring, researching, disseminating and educating; as well as the ideological and leisure and recreation. These institutions are classified into art, anthropology, science, and general museums; among the latter are the pedagogical ones. Museums allow the teaching and learning of history, which encourages the apprentice to concretize the theory learned in books in practice, by coming into direct contact with original documents, objects and places related to historical events that occurred in other times.
