Characteristics of educational evaluation in the learning process


Abstract:

Evaluation is a social phenomenon, which takes on particular overtones in the educational context; it goes beyond control, carrying the value judgment for decision making. The present essay aims to analyze the characteristics of the educational evaluation process, with an emphasis on learning evaluation, as a contribution to the socialization of knowledge about such an important component of the teaching-learning process; For which a descriptive study with a qualitative approach was developed, based on the methods of bibliographic review, content analysis and hermeneutics. Among the main findings are: The recognition of educational evaluation as a comprehensive process, made up of teacher evaluation, curricular evaluation, institutional evaluation, and learning evaluation. The learning assessment is a pedagogical resource that allows the teacher to form a value judgment on the cognitive strengths and weaknesses of the student and the group, on which to implement strategic actions in order to achieve the goals and objectives set. The learning assessment is characterized by being continuous, systematic, comprehensive, interrelational, objective, effective and efficient; it has diagnostic, discrimination, classification, control and feedback functions.
