Concept maps as a resource of interest for initial training of secondary school teachers: Opinions of students in the area of social sciences and humanities


Abstract:

This study is part of a teaching innovation project aimed at improving the initial training of secondary school teachers, using concept maps in activities of knowledge representation and communication in the classroom. The study presents the results of a test designed to investigate the ideas of future teachers on the process of learning done in the classroom and the advantages of concept maps made with computing resources for education and teacher training. Over two years we have collected the opinions of 107 students of the area of social sciences and humanities, in a subject of postgraduate studies of teacher training. After the experience these students appreciated the learning process and educational applications of concept maps and, above all, have shown a high level of satisfaction in learning to use the tool Cmap Tools.
