Determination, by NMR Spectroscopy, of the Structure of Ciceritol, a Pseudotrisaccharide Isolated from Lentils

Abstract:

An unknown pseudotrisaccharide was isolated from Lens culinaris seeds. NMR spectroscopy of this substance established unambiguously its structure as α-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)-4-O-methyl-chiro-inositol. This compound has received the trivial name of ciceritol. It has been previously identified as manninotriose. © 1993, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
